Pricing
The core facility currently uses a project-based fee structure for recharge of proteomic projects. As part of the initial consultation, total costs are discussed and agreed upon before initiation of the project and are based on a combination of mass spectrometry usage and labor costs. These costs typically cover sample preparation (e.g. proteolytic digestion of samples, off-line fractionation, enrichment of modified peptides, desalting), instrument operation, and bioinformatics analysis of the data (e.g. peptide and protein identification, label-free and stable isotope labeling-based quantitation, identification of modified peptides). Although the total cost can vary significantly from project to project based on its overall scope and analytical requirements, Our base pricing for University of California users is based on $61/hour for equipment usage and $83/hour for labor related to sample preparation and data analysis. Rates are $85/hour (equipment) and $115/hour (labor) for external academic users and $91/hour (equipment) and $123/hour (labor) for industry users.
